CAREER OPPORTUNITY | UTILITY OPERATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
ADMS Technical Consultant
Turn approved designs into integrated, supportable, and deployment-ready solutions.
About the Company
Grid Transformation is a specialist electric-utility operational technology advisory firm. We help utilities turn grid-modernization strategy into operational reality across Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Outage Management System (OMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS), and related capabilities. Our work spans strategy and roadmaps, vendor-neutral assessment, requirements and design, program delivery, testing, process engineering, change, deployment, and operational readiness. We bring a practical perspective grounded in how utilities plan, operate, restore, and modernize the distribution grid.
Job Description
We are seeking an ADMS Technical Consultant who can translate approved functional designs into integrated, supportable, and deployment-ready utility OT solutions. You will work with enterprise and solution architects, utility IT/OT, cybersecurity, infrastructure, data and integration teams, functional consultants, testers, operations personnel, vendors, and systems integrators. The role combines ADMS technical delivery experience with disciplined design, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment support across application, integration, infrastructure, data, and configuration layers.
-
Review and develop solution, integration, interface, environment, deployment, and support designs.
-
Translate functional requirements into technical and non-functional requirements, interface behavior, data needs, configuration decisions, and acceptance criteria.
-
Assess integrations among ADMS, GIS, OMS, DMS, SCADA, AMI, DERMS, enterprise systems, and field platforms.
-
Support network-model, data-flow, telemetry, device, and operational-data readiness and validation.
-
Maintain traceability across functional intent, technical designs, interfaces, environments, tests, defects, decisions, changes, and approvals.
-
Identify and manage architecture, environment, data, cybersecurity, availability, performance, monitoring, recovery, and support dependencies.
-
Develop technical test scenarios and support integration, performance, failover, regression, cutover, and production-readiness testing and defect analysis.
-
Troubleshoot issues across application, data, integration, infrastructure, and configuration layers, and document root causes and resolution options.
-
Develop or review runbooks, interface controls, cutover steps, rollback criteria, recovery procedures, support handoffs, and readiness evidence.
-
Support deployment, cutover rehearsals, parallel operations, go-live stabilization, knowledge transfer, and transition to production support.
Requirements
The successful candidate will bring a practical combination of utility technology knowledge, technical delivery discipline, and client-facing communication:
-
Experience delivering technical consulting or implementation work on ADMS, OMS, DMS, SCADA, utility integration, or a related mission-critical OT program.
-
Understanding of distributed application architecture, interfaces, environments, data flows, utility network models, and support models.
-
Experience producing technical designs and translating functional requirements into technical requirements, interface behavior, data needs, and acceptance criteria.
-
Experience assessing integrations, network-model flows, telemetry, APIs, messaging, databases, and configuration across utility and enterprise platforms.
-
Experience supporting integration, performance, failover, regression, deployment, cutover, operational readiness, and production stabilization.
-
Structured troubleshooting skills and awareness of cybersecurity, resilience, access, logging, monitoring, backup, recovery, and change control.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, attention to detail, sound judgment, and comfort working through technical ambiguity.
-
A degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
-
Willingness to travel to client locations as project assignments require; experience with CIM, ICCP, GIS-to-ADMS flows, high availability, or disaster recovery is an asset.
We welcome applicants with different backgrounds and career paths who can demonstrate the capabilities needed to succeed. If your experience does not match every listed asset, we still encourage you to apply and explain the perspective you would bring
