CAREER OPPORTUNITY | UTILITY OPERATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
Enterprise Architect
Shape a coherent utility OT architecture that can be funded, governed, implemented, and operated.
About the Company
Grid Transformation is a specialist electric-utility operational technology advisory firm. We help utilities turn grid-modernization strategy into operational reality across Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Outage Management System (OMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS), and related capabilities.
Our work spans strategy and roadmaps, vendor-neutral assessment, requirements and design, program delivery, testing, process engineering, change, deployment, and operational readiness. We bring a practical perspective grounded in how utilities plan, operate, restore, and modernize the distribution grid.
Job Description
We are seeking an Enterprise Architect who can provide cross-platform direction for utility OT transformation. Working with executive sponsors, utility leaders, IT/OT, cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, program teams, vendors, and systems integrators, you will connect business strategy, grid operations, technology, security, and delivery sequencing into practical current-state, target-state, and transition roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
-
Assess current business, application, data, integration, technology, security, and operating-model architecture.
-
Define target and transition architectures, platform boundaries, dependencies, and delivery sequencing.
-
Develop architecture principles, reference patterns, standards, decision criteria, and exception governance.
-
Lead capability and option assessments across utility OT and enterprise platforms, including ADMS, SCADA, GIS, AMI, and DERMS.
-
Set integration and data direction, including systems of record, network-model flows, APIs, events, ownership, and governance.
-
Embed availability, recovery, observability, access, cybersecurity, resilience, and support expectations into architecture decisions.
-
Translate architecture into roadmaps, work packages, investment decisions, dependencies, and governance checkpoints.
-
Develop current-state, target-state, and transition views, capability maps, boundaries, and reference architectures.
-
Govern architecture across programs and vendors, maintaining decision records, exceptions, standards, and technical-debt registers.
-
Communicate architecture choices, risks, trade-offs, and sequencing to executive and technical audiences.
Requirements and Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring substantial architecture experience, utility technology knowledge, and clear communication:
-
Substantial architecture experience across complex, integrated, mission-critical technology environments.
-
Ability to connect business capabilities with applications, data, integration, infrastructure, security, and roadmaps.
-
Experience governing architecture across programs, vendors, and stakeholders while enabling delivery.
-
Strong understanding of integration, data ownership, resilience, cloud trade-offs, security, lifecycle, and technical debt.
-
Ability to move between executive decisions and detailed technical discussions.
-
Clear communication of architecture choices, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Architecture experience in utilities, OT, critical infrastructure, or regulated high-availability environments.
-
Knowledge of ADMS, OMS, DMS, SCADA, AMI, DERMS, GIS, network models, and distribution operations.
-
Experience with cloud-enabled OT, analytics, AI, DER integration, or active distribution operations.
We welcome applicants with different backgrounds and career paths who can demonstrate the capabilities needed to succeed. If your experience does not match every listed asset, we still encourage you to apply and explain the perspective you would bring.
